I’ve always had an interest in makeup from a young age, and decided to finally go for it and get ITEC certified. I choose The Make Up Crew because I wanted an ITEC course that I could do on the weekends but also learn from the best Makeup Artists in the business. Choosing The Make Up Crew was the best choice I made.
In June of last year, I started Module 1. During those 16 weeks we learned so much, from ITEC standards of make up, skin care along with glamour and fashion makeup. I learned what it’s like on counters as an MUA from people who have over 10 years of experience in the industry. I completed Module 1 and I became ITEC certified just 3 months after I first started the course. As soon as I finished Module 1 I didn’t want to stop learning. I felt that I wanted to progress even further so I decided to go onto Module 2. I learned further about Fashion and Media Makeup and got to get creative.
What I LOVED about my time with The Make Up Crew was that there are no creative boundaries. Every Crew member is with you every step of the way in the course and you bond with every tutor and every girl in your Module. I have so many highlights of my time with The Make Up Crew such as the work experience opportunities that I was able to get involved in. I got to work on Miss Ireland photo shoot, Style Warriors Fashion Show, and The RDS Bridal Show just to name a few. I got to meet the nicest people, work with the best group of girls and really develop as a Make Up Artist.
I am now a Makeup Artist for Inglot Ireland and get to work with some of the best girls in the business and social media makeup royalty.
For anybody who is considering a career in makeup with The Make Up Crew, I would encourage them to really make the most of their time there and to take every opportunity to get the work experience. Everyday is a learning experience as an MUA because you learn from every person you work with. It sounds cliché, but practise is everything.
There are so many colleges to choose from but I’m glad I choose The Make up Crew to start off my career in make up. They thought me so much not only about make up but they encouraged me and gave me the confidence I needed, and I have no doubt they’ll do the same for future students.
